Enrollment of Nonresident Students

During the Board of Education’s meeting held on November 13, 2023, the Board adopted a policy related to open enrollment. You can read the new policy JBCC that applies to nonresident students HERE. The policy’s adoption was required by Kansas House Bill 2567, which is a Kansas law that applies to all public schools in the state and takes effect beginning with the 2024-25 school year. Prior to adopting policy JBCC the Board of Education held a public hearing. HB 2567 requires all districts to allow non-resident students, who reside in Kansas, to enroll in and attend any school if the district has the capacity.

Timeline:

  • District Enrollment Capacity is Determined: May 1

  • Deadline to Inform Parents of any administrative decision not to continue enrollment of a nonresident student: May 31.

  • Post Enrollment Projections, Capacity and Number of Open Seats: June 1

  • Non-resident Open Enrollment Applications Accepted: June 1-30

  • Non-resident Lottery Selection Process (if necessary): July 1-July 15

Eligibility to participate in Kansas State High School Activities Association activities for open enrollment transfer students would be determined by KSHSAA policies.

Application for Nonresident Student Enrollment

Nonresident students who attended USD 108 in the 2023-2024 school year, and their siblings, do not need to apply.
