I apologize for not posting nonstop for the past four days, but we were making memories! 8 band students traveled to Wichita to participate in the KMEA ISW 12a Honor band.
Students included: Mackenzie Kuhanek, Aviana Hertz, Joselyn Sanchez, Tucker Huband, Brianne Fincham, Cayden Meadows, Kelly Annunziato, and Zoe Sawin.
These students auditioned back in November to be apart of district and Allstate groups. Students were then selected to be members of the honor group directed by Dr. Shanti Simon, Director of Bands, and Professor of Music, at the University of Oklahoma.
The students went to Wichita on Wednesday, and helped Mrs Sawin set up the space for rehearsals and took in some much needed bonding time. They rehearsed from 9am until 6 pm Thursday. Thursday evening the students attended the Presidents concert at Century II. The group is called Amadeus and they are a Romanian Classical Rock band. To say the kids were entertained is an understatement! Then Friday back up
And rehearsing before 9 until 6pm again. Friday night shenanigans checking out the Planet alignment (thankfully a police officer stopped to chat and gave us a good view with his app) and the mall, then off to bed!
Up early today for one last rehearsal, a quick pack job, and then concert! Check out Mrs Sawin's Facebook page to watch the whole concert!!
A huge thank you to our amazing Admin that allowed this trip to be so amazing. And a big shout out to our second driver Kelly Minge. Turns out she is the Mrs Sawin is Fun!

WCHS Forensics took 5 freshmen to compete at the Abilene Tournament today. It was a big meet with many big schools. The freshmen held their own and did well. Rowley earned 3rd place in humorous solo. The future is bright for the forensics team!

Have you ever seen a gorgeous Merle-coat dog with its unique swirls of color? That beautiful coat comes from a special gene --- the Merle gene.(M) which affects how pigment is distributed in the dog's fur. But did you know the same gene can also impact vision and hearing. Today we had a visit from Loki who is deaf, and learned about the genetics behind the Merle trait and these related vision and hearing problems. While Merle coats are stunning, using ethical breeding practices is important to reduce the health risks.
Thank you Loki (and Courtney) for helping us with this lesson.

A small but mighty team is headed to Abilene tomorrow.

Dr. Sherlock (also known as "Dad" to one preschooler!) visited preschool today! He let us use some of his tools, talked about ways we can stay healthy, and brought along an experiment showing how soap repels germs! Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge with us, Dr. Sherlock!

Our Kindergarten through third grade students had the opportunity to see the exciting light show production of Moon Mouse. Our students did so well with traveling and being part of the audience. Some highlights of the trip were sitting in the front row, getting a police escort through KSU campus, and seeing the KSU football stadium. Thank you to everyone that made this possible.

What a fun day at McCain Auditorium to see the light show production of Moon Mouse! It was a memorable drive down and back!

Mr. Edmonds Senior Class Visits the State Capital. Meets with Rep. Moser and Sen. Bowers. Ended up getting a great understanding of the State Government and how it works from the Legislative process.
