The Washington County Spelling Contest looked different this year. Every school gave each grade level the same test in first through fifth grades. Each school in the county submitted scores for their top five spellers in each grade level. The top five spellers in each grade (including ties) were awarded ribbons. Top spellers in grades sixth through eighth grade competed in a local spelling contest. The top two spellers will compete in a county spelling contest to decide who will go on to the state level. Pictures of all Washington County Elementary School's contestants coming soon.
The 4th graders completed a project based on the Northwest Ordinance. They created a map of the classroom that created “no less than 3 and not more than 5” states. Each state has their own rules. The class will vote on the winning group, will rearrange the classroom, and follow the rules for at least a week.
